Lady Falcons Take USCAA Volleyball Championship for Third Year in a RowOn Friday, October 27 number 4 seed Florida College defeated number 1 seed Spalding University from Louisville, Kentucky to take the USCAA Volleyball Championship for the third consecutive year. The Lady Falcons demonstrated a remarkable level of teamwork, particularly in their final match against Spalding. When asked about the championship match, newly-named Coach of the Year Donna Parimore said “The main thing our statistics show is that this was a total team effort. Bob and I were very impressed as we watched the game and the video afterwards by so many of our players. Of course we expected our ‘big guns’ to produce, and they did, but what won this tournament so decisively was all of the girls working together as a team. They truly exemplify the idea that the sum of the parts is greater than the whole.” In addition to the championship title won by the team, several of the Lady Falcons were honored with individual awards: Kelsie Foreman was named a First Team All-American and made part of the USCAA All Tournament team; Sarah Hunsicker was named tournament MVP; and Sarah Hunsicker, Susan Johnson, and Rachel Parimore were all named to the 2007 USCAA All-Academic Team.
Volleyball season begins late August and runs through early November. Each season the team will play over 30 matches including 3 or 4 tournaments throughout the southeast. Coach Parimore is always searching for players with good skills, strong academic abilities, and great character. Those interested in information about the program and scholarship opportunities should contact Coach Parimore. |
