Take Note Tour a Success

The a cappella singing group Take Note, formed last fall by several students and an admissions department employee, recently returned from a tour that took them through Texas, Alabama, and Oklahoma. The admissions department asked the group to aid them in promoting the school – unofficially joining the Friends band, jazz band, and camp friends in that effort.

Take Note is comprised of Kaitin Taylor (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Molly Taylor (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Jared Acuff (Lakeland, Fla.), Micah Clem (Athens, Ala.), Alex Hunt (Melbourne, Fla.), and Madeline Bunting (Murfreesboro, Tenn.). The group was organized by the Taylor sisters to recreate similar groups they participated in during high school.

The 10-day tour allowed Take Note opportunities unavailable to other traveling groups that promote the school. “We got the opportunity to perform in a lot of homes,” Madeline Bunting said, “as opposed to schools or on a stage.” The more intimate setting, smaller size of the group, and smaller quantity of equipment all facilitated the ability to spend time talking and socializing with potential students.

The tour successfully piqued the interest of many students, in an area where it is traditionally difficult to recruit. Take Note plans to perform together again in the fall, though there are no plans yet to tour again next summer. “We’re trying to convince them to do an international tour,” Bunting said with a laugh.
