Celebrating the Newly Renovated Chatlos Library

On September 23rd, Florida College celebrated the newly renovated Chatlos Library with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house. The new state-of-the-art library has quickly become a social space for students as it transformed from a traditional library into an open and vibrant technology and learning hub. 

Major project highlights include:

  • Digital Lab for students to utilize their skills with editing software
  • Bowman Media Studio for students in Florida College’s Bachelors of Communication with a specialization in mass media to perfect skills using top-of-the-line equipment
  • Five private spaces available for student collaborations, with equipment to aid in presentation performance
  • Phil & Sandy Ford Reading Room for uninterrupted study sessions overlooking areas surrounding the school
  • Multi-use classroom available for special presentations, adjacent to our Special Collections Archives.
  • Coffey House featuring Starbucks

“Our library is the scholarly and social hub of the College,” observed President John Weaver, “and the renovation energizes the already extraordinary community and creativity of our FC students.  I’m looking forward to many conversations in the new library coffee shop, where I already see members of our faculty meeting with students.  This personal touch is an important part of the FC difference.”
