Uncovering God-Given Strengths:
Florida College Introduces CliftonStrengths for Students, Faculty, and Staff

Learning who you are is one of life’s greatest advantages. But for most people, that discovery only comes after years—if not decades—of trial, error, and introspection. What if that journey could start earlier? What if students could begin college already equipped with a deeper understanding of who they are, how they work, and where they naturally thrive?
At Florida College, we believe that’s not just possible—it’s essential.
Beginning this year, Florida College has made the CliftonStrengths assessment available to its student body, as well as faculty and staff. Developed by Gallup, this powerful online tool helps individuals discover and understand their natural talents by measuring 34 distinct “talent themes” through a simple, paired-statement format. But what sets CliftonStrengths apart is its focus—not on what’s wrong, but on what’s right. The assessment highlights strengths, allowing each person to receive a personalized report showing their top themes, areas of growth, and ways to excel.
As Christians, we know that our design is not random. The combination of our genetics, experiences, personality, and passions is intentional—crafted by a Creator who gives us talents not to hoard, but to steward. Our gifts are meant to be used, both for our good and for God’s glory. At Florida College, we see each student’s talents as more than traits—they are opportunities. And uncovering them early leads to greater confidence, clearer direction, and more impactful lives.
By offering the CliftonStrengths assessment to incoming students, we’re helping them navigate college with a clearer picture of who they are. This knowledge affects how they study, how they interact, and how they serve. It even helps them choose majors, extracurriculars, internships, and career paths that fit their natural design. But it doesn’t stop there.
Faculty and staff also have access to CliftonStrengths, which adds an exciting new dimension to the classroom. Imagine a professor who understands the strengths of each student before assigning group projects or recommending internship placements. That level of insight promotes better teamwork, clearer communication, and deeper mentorship.
CliftonStrengths talent themes fall into four categories: Strategic Thinking, Executing, Influencing, and Relationship Building. These areas touch every part of campus life, from academic planning and leadership development to spiritual encouragement and service projects. Strengths can help students grow not just as learners, but as leaders, friends, and faithful servants.
As our 2025 graduates prepare to enter the world, they leave with more than just a diploma. They take with them four years of academic rigor, spiritual formation, and relational growth. And now, they also take a deeper knowledge of themselves. Paired with their identity as children of God, their understanding of their unique strengths makes them well-prepared to thrive in the workplace, in their homes, churches, and communities.
At Florida College, we’re not just educating minds—we’re equipping hearts. By helping our students uncover their God-given strengths, we’re setting them on a path toward excellence, purpose, and lifelong impact.
