Matt Simpson: Groundbreaker
Senior Matt Simpson is a groundbreaker on the court and off. As the all-time leading scorer in Falcon basketball history, the Tampa native also is the first in his family to receive a bachelor’s degree.
“I was approached by so many scouts, but connected with Coach Chase Tiechmann personally and chose Florida College,” said the high school standout. Four years later, Matt is preparing to leave FC after taking his team to the NAIA National Championship his junior and senior years, and being named the 2022 Continental Athletic Conference champions. Rooted deeply in family, Matt is continually supported by his parents, grandparents and two younger siblings, who cheer on the Falcons at every game.
In May, Matt will graduate with a degree in business administration with a focus in sports management, where his favorite instructor has been Bible professor Dr. Will Dilbeck. Ever the trailblazer, Matt will continue his basketball career in Europe, where he’s been recruited to play professional basketball in the fall of 2023. Matt’s incredible story was made possible by visionary supporters who believe in Florida College and its ability to transform lives.
