Experiential Learning

Oratory Union

The college enjoys a program of debate and argumentation that is open for all students to audition. Students compete with other college and university students on the local, state and national level in several different categories of competition, such as extemporaneous speaking, dramatic interpretation, and debate.

The Royal Palm Yearbook

The Royal Palm is Florida College’s yearbook, produced by our students with the aid of an advisor. The staff consists of three teams: copy, photo, and design. Applications open once every summer for incoming and returning students.

Internships

All students studying to complete a bachelor’s degree in communication degree will receive hands-on experience before graduation in an internship. Students put the skills they have acquired into practice, propelling their career path forward.

Unique On-site Learning Experiences

Students have the opportunity to explore wildly successful, well-known businesses located only minutes away from campus. For example, Vū Studios is an Emmy award-winning network of virtual production studios that started here in Tampa Bay and is rapidly expanding to other major cities around the U.S.

One of the most important things I experienced at FC was the impact of a professor who genuinely cared about me as a person. I have over 500 vet med students who are used to getting lost in a crowd. I find they’re surprised by anyone’s honest concern for them as human beings. It means I get to be the person they come for guidance, which is a blessing. I teach them to pass on compassion and care.
