Alumna Madeleine Wessel Living Out Her “Why” in Nonprofit Work
December 4, 2025 | 2 min read
Madeleine Wessel (’24) serves as Volunteer Specialist at Meals On Wheels in Tampa, where she connects people with opportunities to give back and sees the impact of their generosity every day. A Liberal Studies graduate with concentrations in Behavioral Science and Education, she draws on the diverse foundation she gained at FC to help others serve as she’s been served.
“I love being able to help people serve the community and see the impact that generosity has,” she said.
During her years at Florida College, Madeleine discovered the value of service firsthand. She was active across campus, most notably as SBGA President during her senior year, and saw how both the student body and the school as a whole prioritized giving back.
“Florida College helped me see the value of a ‘why’ and the value of service,” she explained. “I was able to first-hand see that serving others is worth the investment through the way that I was involved with serving the student body and the way that the school as a whole was involved with serving the community.”
Her academic program gave her a broad perspective that she now carries into her work.
“My favorite part of Liberal Studies was being exposed to such a wide variety of topics,” she shared. “It gave me a diverse outlook on the world, which allows me to better serve and meet people’s needs! ”
This fall, Madeleine began her master’s program online at the University of Florida. Looking ahead, she hopes to remain in the nonprofit world, focusing on marketing or development to further strengthen organizations that serve the community.
Through it all, she remains anchored in the lessons of faith she learned at FC.
“I am deeply grateful to Florida College for teaching me how to see my work as an offering I make to glorify the Lord and the knowledge to do it with excellence,” she said.
