Florida College Hits Biggest Enrollment in School History

September 25, 2023

Florida College kicked off its fall semester celebrating a major milestone.

591 students enrolled for the 2023-24 academic year, which is a 5.54% increase over last year’s enrollment. It’s the biggest student body population in Florida College history. Contributing to that number is also one of the largest incoming classes ever, with 240 students.

“The addition of several new, in-demand programs means students who may have gone elsewhere to fulfill their academic goals can now fulfill those goals here, with us,” said Ryan Shutt, Director of Admissions. “I also believe the continued growth of scholarship opportunities, such as the Hall Scholarship, has made Florida College accessible to more students than ever before.”

Retention rates continue to rise as well, with FC posting percentage gains in the last five years. Shutt believes retention rates can be attributed to increased academic offerings, amongst other things. Within the last three years, the school has added six four-year Bachelor degree programs including nursing, kinesiology, psychology, marketing, finance, and biology. The nursing program recently received accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, placing Florida College among the 867 CCNE accredited colleges and universities nationwide.

Additionally, Florida College now offers financial assistance through the newly formed Hall Scholarship Fund. This endowed scholarship fund aims to provide first-generation college students and students from diverse racial/ethnic backgrounds, with the opportunity to pursue higher education and make a meaningful impact in their communities.
