Florida College Gives Back to Community on First Annual IMPACT Day

October 2, 2023

(Temple Terrace, Fla.) – On September 27th, more than 400 students and faculty from Florida College gave back to the greater Tampa Bay community during the school’s first annual Impact Day.

Students and staff served more than 25 area nonprofits including the Boys & Girls Club of Tampa Bay, Trinity Cafe, Children’s Home Society, City of Temple Terrace, Tampa Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, and others including nature preserves, cancer centers and community gardens.

On campus, volunteers wrote letters to cancer patients at Moffitt Cancer Center, created laundry packs for at-risk families and delivered to local laundromats, and assembled birthday boxes and stuffed suitcases with essential items for local foster children.

“Florida College’s education and community impact is Bible-based and Kingdom-work, focused not just on a particular church, city, or country;” said President John Weaver. “We are focused on the individual characters of our students and how they can learn to make even more of a positive difference in the lives of others, because that’s what Jesus did. FC is higher education for deeper discipleship.”

The event culminated to the Impact Gala held on September 28th at the Tampa Convention Center. Formerly the FC Leadership Dinner, the event featured HGTV’s Ben and Erin Napier while showcasing the impact Florida College and its students have in the community and around the world. Funds raised during the evening will support student scholarships at Florida College.
