When Sheridan Bass (’23) graduated from Florida College with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Communication and a specialization in Mass Media, she never imagined her path would lead straight to the U.S. House of Representatives. Yet today, as Deputy Press Secretary for House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, Sheridan’s voice is shaping conversations at the highest levels of government—grounded in the faith and integrity she developed at Florida College.
“Florida College equipped me with the spiritual, mental, and academic tools I needed to succeed in the sometimes contentious and discouraging world of politics,” Sheridan shares. “At FC, I learned the importance of integrity and faithfulness to God above all else, and those qualities have been vital to my spiritual health and work ethic.”
Her mass media courses challenged her to communicate with clarity and conviction, skills she now draws on daily as she drafts press releases, crafts strategic messages, and navigates complex political narratives in Washington, D.C.
But beyond technical training, the values Sheridan embraced at Florida College—faith, truth, and a commitment to serving others—gave her the foundation to thrive in a demanding field. She approaches each day with a purpose: to represent truthfully, lead faithfully, and bring light to an environment that can often feel dark.
From Temple Terrace to the halls of Capitol Hill, Sheridan’s story is a testament to what’s possible when dedication, faith, and courage come together. Her journey inspires others to step boldly into their callings—no matter where they lead.
