Education and Physical Education Department

The education department at Florida College aims to share in fulfilling the college’s mission and philosophy, facilitate the development of professional knowledge and skills in those who will be teaching others, and prepare graduates to meet the state of Florida certification requirements and become productive members of their educational institutions and communities.

The department emphasizes research-based, best teaching practices with a spiritual focus on graduates behaving ethically, providing service to others, and being godly influences. Students learn theory in the classroom, see it in practice in internship experiences, and have access to faculty, staff, and cooperating schools for support.

Experiential Learning

APPLE Club

The APPLE Club is an organization for students majoring in education or interested in learning about that field as a career. Students in APPLE Club volunteer and participate in outreach programs in the community.

Internships

All students studying to complete the bachelor’s degree in elementary education or educational studies will receive hands-on experience before graduation in an internship. Students will put the skills they have gained into practice, propelling them forward on their desired career path.

The elementary ed program provided me with opportunities to put theory into practice. FC’s partnership with the local public school district allowed me to have hands-on experiences working with children of diverse ages, backgrounds, and strengths. Through academic, social, and spiritual opportunities, I learned how to be a dedicated partner in the workplace, community, and God's Kingdom.
